Older people in line for a status update

Independent Age on Facebook

August 22, 2009

To smash some myths about the types of people that network online, Independent Age are using social media with and for the older people that they help. I started with a Facebook page focusing on their fundraising events and press interviews which they publicise through their numerous social connections. I also encouraged them to sign up to LinkedIn to raise their professional profile.

They also blog about their events and activities with connections to their Twitter profile. Social media is a collaborative effort and the organisation has collectively taken up the challenge of raising its profile and reaching out to new (and possibly slightly surprised) audiences.
